The conclusion to its first storyline sees Batgirl go up against her own dark self, as the villain of the story is an AI (created on her laptop!) that has some twisted views on how to best be Batgirl. Much like Captain Kirk or Number 6, Babs uses some simple logic to melt the AI’s brain and then everyone has a dance party, Ewok style. Then the book ends rather abruptly, like the last page wasn’t ready in time for printing. At least the next issue is only three months away! A giant pesky crossover ‘event’ is to blame for the wait, I assume.
BATGIRL: ENDGAME #1
The wait is maybe made easier by the fact that we have a second issue this week, a tie-in to the current Batman storyline, ‘Endgame’. This dialogue-free issue sees Batgirl rescuing some civilians from the zombie-like hordes who have been infected by the Joker’s virus over in Batman. No dialogue means you flick through the issue rather quickly, but thankfully Bengel’s art is rather nice.
Two Batgirl issues in one month! Yay! Shame it was all a little overshadowed by the controversy regarding a variant cover for the next issue. But it’s nice to see that attention the book gets, both good and bad, shows that people care about it.
