THE FLASH – ALL STAR TEAM UP
I’m playing catch-up on Arrow so this week’s guest appearance by Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer AKA The Atom was a pleasant first encounter. A rather goofy character, he felt rather at home in Central City, especially his interactions with Cisco – so much so, that I wonder a little how his lighter character works in the usually darker Arrow. Plot-wise this episode sees Ray and Felicity appear from Arrow to ask Star Labs’ help with Ray’s hi-tech (Iron Man) suit. This week’s villain is pretty unimportant, the main focus being on Barry and his feelings regarding the truth about Wells. Elsewhere, poor Eddie suffers because Iris is being a punk again…
Good, fun episode, though not as great as several other recent episodes.
GOTHAM – THE BLIND FORTUNE TELLER
Rather nice looking episode of Gotham which sees Gordon and Leslie going on a date to the circus, only to have it end in a clown vs. acrobat brawl. Said acrobats are the future Robin’s (Dick Grayson) parents, but most importantly the brawl leads to the discovery of a dead body, murdered by the man who may be the future Joker. Good episode, but it seems like Gordon solved the case by magic, which was especially noticeable after his speech about working the evidence and not relying on hunches. I, for one, saw no evidence here…
GOTHAM – RED HOOD
This episode was a lot more fun, probably because it featured extra Bullock. Oddly, it’s the second episode in a row to play around with the Joker’s origins – in this case with the Red Hood. This episode sees the Red Hood passed from one gang member to another (starting with a Joker red herring) who start to believe the Hood has some sort of power – if that power is attracting bullets, I suppose they have a point.
Elsewhere in this episode, Barbara does some stuff no-one cares about, Penguin sits in his club doing nothing for what seems like the hundredth episode in a row and Fish’s crazy body harvesting farm storyline gets crazier, thanks to some self-surgery…
